... and, of course, the naked bicyclists. A few years ago, the police were threatening to arrest the naked bicyclists -- some kind of whiny moral standards group (who had never gone to the parade) was giving them some heat. Five or six people biked anyway, to huge cheers from the crowd.

It turns out, though, that the Seattle ordinance specifically prohibits lewd behavior, but not being nude. And that seems to have been the opening people were waiting for. Every year since, there have been more and more bicyclists.

I'd estimate 150+ this year, which is a three or four times leap over past years. And the crowd still loves them.
